In our quest to preserve and make available as many Florida writings as possible, here’s a public domain article from Florida Enchantments, dated 1908.
[continue reading…]I’m calling this The Ultimate Florida Quest…but really it’s just goals that I’m setting for myself to keep me on track and I’m hoping that it will inspire others to get out there to live their best lives. At the time of this writing I’m 35 years old. I’m not quite to the halfway point of my life (hopefully!), but I am getting there, and I still have a lot that I want to accomplish…so I figured I should write out what I want to do and to get going.
[continue reading…]I like to look at the bright side of life. I was supposed to be spending my vacation next week at a condo on Indian Rocks Beach…but that has been cancelled as I can’t bring myself to be an idiotic, disease-spreading spring breaker. But so what! I can still have an amazing vacation right from home. All I need is to brainstorm some great ideas.
[continue reading…]I have more time on my hands due to working at home, so I have been pondering, including pondering about this blog! So a State of the Blog article is in order. Hear! Hear!
[continue reading…]So Florida is basically closed and the usual things us Floridians do this time of year are out of commission. But fear not! There is still a lot of Florida exploring to do!
[continue reading…]Well, we live in interesting times. Let’s take a look at how the Corona Virus is impacting Florida.
[continue reading…]Does anybody out there actually work a 9-5? I think that’s a myth. I think most people work an 8-7, plus commute time. It’s weird that I remember playing video games for hours as a child/man-child and I somehow was able to have time for that.
[continue reading…]Work brought me to Ybor City the other day and, as usual, chickens were everywhere clucking away. So I decided to get some pictures for the blog.
[continue reading…]Since I was born and raised in a place that was not Florida and now permanently live in Florida, because it is the land that I love–does this make me a True Floridian? What are the rules for this?
[continue reading…]Well, it is upon us once again. Where half the country comes to party on our golden shores, cruise our theme parks, clog our roads, take all our camping spots, and drink our beer.
[continue reading…]I ended up in Wesley Chapel by chance. I was starting a new chapter in my life, one with a wife and a child. I was switching gears from a life of world travel to settling down. My heart was always in Florida so I knew that was the only place I could possibly settle down.
[continue reading…]The Tampa Bay Times recently announced that my hometown boasts the highest median household income in Tampa Bay at $86,885. The population is also projected to double in the next few years. Is this good? Is this bad? I don’t know. One thing I do know is that this means opportunity.
[continue reading…]I was amazed when I first heard of Mickler’s Floridiana. It sounds like the coolest place on Planet Earth to hang out at. Unfortunately, like all good things…it came to an end, but it doesn’t mean it can’t be immortalized in a blog post.
[continue reading…]I’m a sucker for vintage FL postcards, so I’ve decided to start collecting them and putting them on this site. All the postcards in this article are from the public domain–meaning you can copy them and use them how you please for free.
[continue reading…]Like everybody else, I was shocked at the news of Kobe Bryant, along with his daughter and 7 others, passing away in a helicopter crash. It hit me, even though I never met the guy and he never knew of my existence.
[continue reading…]I love watching shows set in Florida, but sometimes it’s hard to find them. So I put together this comprehensive list for everybody’s viewing pleasure. Enjoy!
[continue reading…]Visiting all 175 Florida State Parks has been in the back of my mind for a long time. And it wasn’t until recently that I actually started thinking about this being a real possibility.
[continue reading…][continue reading…]Most people overestimate what they can do in a year and they underestimate what they can do in a decade.

While working on an article about my pleasant family camping trip to Ginnie Springs, I was amazed to learn that the State of Florida is planning to allow Nestle to suck Ginnie Springs dry so that the company can make a lot of money.
[continue reading…]This is starting to become somewhat of a family tradition. I can’t remember how long Zoo Tampa (formerly Lowry Park Zoo) has been doing Creatures of the Night–I think it has been about 5 or 6 years now. But we have gone every year so far.
