Ideas For My Vacation Next Week

I like to look at the bright side of life. I was supposed to be spending my vacation next week at a condo on Indian Rocks Beach…but that has been cancelled as I can’t bring myself to be an idiotic, disease-spreading spring breaker. But so what! I can still have an amazing vacation right from home. All I need is to brainstorm some great ideas.

Wild Safari Drive-Thru Park

I have never done the Wild Safari Drive-Thru Park, so this may be an option. There giraffes are and stuff there and since there is no interaction with anybody (tix are bought online) this attraction is still open. It’s one more fun FL daytrip that I can cross of the list and my kiddos will think it’s really cool.

Finish 3 FL Books

Everybody that reads this blog knows that I’m a big reader. I’m currently about halfway through Alligators In B-Flat, in the last 4th of Shadow Country and just started Native Tongue. I should have plenty of time to finish off all three of them next week.

Add 5,000 Words To My FL Novel

I’m also working on my first novel, which has been on my to-do list for about 15 years. Next week will be a good opportunity to add 5,000 solid words to the novel. (5,000 words is roughly around 17 pages of a novel).

Finish Watching Bloodline On NetFlix

I started watching Bloodline a long time ago and have been slowly getting through it. I have 8 more episodes to get to the end. It is time to find out how things turn out for the Rayburn family of the Florida Keys.

Learn How To Make Key Lime Pie

Key Lime Pie is the classic FL dessert. I am no baker or cook, but I would like to give this a try. Can’t be too hard…right?

File Taxes (and other chores / fun projects around the house that I’ve been putting off)

Nothing says SPRING BREAK WOOOOO!!! like getting taxes done. I definitely can’t wait to do this! There are a number of other chores around the house that I can get done too! So let’s make a list because EVERBODY LOVE LISTS:

  • Get taxes done
  • Find the leak on the front tire of my car and plug it
  • Hook up my 20 year old stereo to my 8 year old TV (who knows if this will work…but it would be awesome if I could improve the crappy sound from my TV)
  • Fix the screen door behind my sliding door
  • Fix the sliding door too my minivan
  • Fix up my old 1st electric guitar to working condition that I bought for $150 about 23 years ago, just ’cause. You know…sentimental reasons.
  • Purge my closet and drawers of t-shirts and clothes that I haven’t worn in about a decade but for some reason I still have them hanging on hangers and tucked away in drawers

Rock and Roll On The Guitar

My 8 year old son has shown a keen interest in learning the guitar, so I’ve been giving him some lessons lately. We’re gonna ramp it up a bit during vacation and get some more quality guitar lessons. And…it’s about time I learn a new song or two. I been jamming to the same songs for about a decade. I was thinking of adding a Jimmy Buffett song or two to my repertoire.

Get Ahead On Blog Writing

Simple enough. Write a bunch of blog articles so I can get ahead of the curve a bit on article publishing. It always feels good to be a few weeks ahead in the articles I have in the can. I find that the best articles that I write for this blog often come when I already have a few weeks worth of articles ready to go–it takes the pressure off a bit in creating new content, so then I really hunker down and write some high-quality stuff!
