Revisiting Little Manatee River State Park

Since I obtained the state park passport book I’ve been revisiting a lot of state parks I’ve been to in the past in order to collect the stamp and to enjoy the park once again.

Today I took the kids to Little Manatee River State Park. I believe this actually is my third visit to this state park, but the first time for the twins. (I’m aiming to go to all 175 state parks with the entire family in tow, the quest isn’t just for me).

We spent all our time near the park’s canoe launch and played along the bank of the river and in the river. I only saw one alligator, which was a baby, and didn’t have any other confirmed sightings. There were a couple suspects though in the branches and the brush.

A baby alligator was hiding under those tree branches, but I wasn’t quick enough to get a picture of him.

The kids got soaked and thought it was hilarious to float on top of the water. Luckily I brought changes of clothes for them, also, nobody got attacked by alligators, so that’s good too. We also cast our line in the water a few times, but there was no fish I could see and we didn’t catch anything.

The campgrounds and playground were closed due to COVID-19.

I was sure to get the Little Manatee River State Park stamped into our passport. Which brings us up to six.

Looking For Fish

I’ve still got a ways to go to revisit all the parks I’ve already been to in order to get the stamp, but I’m enjoying it. It’s bringing back memories.

For those who haven’t been, the highlight of Little Manatee River State Park is the river and the 6.5 mile hiking trail. Bring a kayak if you got one. They can be rented too.
