I know, I know…the weather is cooler, maybe a bit overcast. But have you ever given the beach a try during the wintertime? The crowds are few. The beach is wide open. It’s really a cool thing to see because most of us have this vision of slammed beaches full of tourists. Not so during this time of year. I find wintertime is a good time to admire the natural beauty that can be found on Florida’s beaches.
If you’ve never tried it I suggest it.
A couple of my favorites (keep in mind I’m from the Tampa area) for this practice are Honeymoon Island and Fort De Soto. Both are beaches oozing with picturesque beauty. Honeymoon is beautiful for it’s island setting, sandy nature trails, and rocky beaches. Fort De Soto is amazing to admire for its curving beach, sea oats, fish, and crystal clear water.
I highly suggest that anyone who has never been to either of these beaches check them out, as I find that people generally hit up the more popular beaches of St. Pete, Clearwater, and Daytona. But popular does not equal beautiful.
So before the end of the month, get out there, try something new, and you might want to bring a camera.
