Tampa Bay Day Trip: The Tampa Yankees

I’m a Yankees fan…there I said it. Albeit, a Tampa Yankees fan. The reason? Bang for buck, quality bang for buck.

The Bang

The Tampa Yankees play in the competitive Florida State League, which is Class A-Advanced minor league baseball. The quality of the game is actually pretty high. Many of the pitchers, for example, can throw just as hard or harder as the majors, they’re just learning how to get better control. For baseball aficionados, it’s a great way to watch players develop and learn the game.

I love the social atmosphere at George M. Steinbrenner Field, there’s plenty of seats to choose from and to sprawl out in. There’s no huge crowds to muscle through. You can watch the game, for sure. But I’ve found it’s a wonderful place to also hang out with friends and family. It’s very relaxed.

If you have little ones that have always dreamed of catching a foul ball, this is the place. There are usually more foul balls than kids. And the players themselves have been known to hand out baseballs when asked. Kids can usually grab player autographs after the game.

The Buck

To start it off, general admission is only $5.00 and the parking is free. Not too many places in Florida offer that.

Also, there are specials throughout the year. They can be found at the Tampa Yankees website.
