Just wanted to give everybody a heads up about a cool event going on today…The Tampa Yankees are hosting Star Wars Night over at George M. Steinbrenner Field. Admission is free for those of you showing up in costume. And even if you don’t show up in costume admissions is usually pretty cheap. It’s also a double header today.
Gates open at 2:30pm. The first game starts at 3:30pm. The second game starts half an hour after game one ends. There will be cool Star War/Tampa Yankee jerseys that can be won in a silent auction. For more info and to see the Star Wars jerseys check out the Tampa Yankees website.
Other cool things going on in Tampa:
Busch Gardens is open until midnight tonight for their Summer Nights events. At night the park turns into a club with DJs set up around the park, a kick-ass Kinetix Show (9:00pm) followed by fireworks. If you haven’t done Summer Nights yet, you should get on over there. Time is ticking before the event is closed.
Adventure Island is hosting Island Nights (Busch Garden’s waterpark). The park is open until 9pm. There will be sand castle building and a closing celebration. This is where I will be tonight (I promised my son we’d go to the waterpark today. I’d much rather go to Star Wars Night, but what’s a father to do, right?)
The Tampa Bay Rowdies are playing against the Jacksonville Armada tonight at 7:30pm. That takes place at Al Lang Stadium in downtown St. Pete. If you have never seen a Rowdies game I highly recommend it.
Those are my top picks for this Saturday. Have fun and get out there!
