I started this blog because I love Florida, absolutely love it. In all my travels, I have not found any other place on the surface of the earth that I would rather call home.
The first article for this blog was posted on August 28, 2013, five years ago. At that time I had envisioned a blog that would be the Florida blog. It would be the ultimate Florida travel blog. But it would be more than just a travel blog. It would delve into history, culture and even politics. It would have beautiful photos. It would inspire Floridians and non-Floridians alike to get out there. And at the end of the day, it would make Florida an even better place. I had envisioned, on top of all the things I wanted the blog to be, a place that would create a community of like-minded Floridians. A group that loved Florida as much as I did and a group that wanted to make Florida better. Oh, glory!
I am very proud of what I have accomplished here. I’m not even a computer guy yet I still figured out how to launch this blog. This is the 97th article that I have written. However, this blog has not achieved what I had envisioned. Like I said, I envisioned that this would be the Florida blog. I think the biggest stumbling block has been that I don’t fully believe that a non-computer guy like me can really build that blog. Since I thought that way I never went all in. The article writing was sporadic. At one point I went almost a year without posting anything. At another point I even let the domain lapse without renewing it, meaning, somebody else could have bought thefloridaexplorer.com! I was ready to throw in the towel.
But not anymore.
My enthusiasm has been renewed. I have made a commitment to myself that I am going to follow through with my original vision. I believe I can build the greatest Florida blog of all time. I believe that if I put in the effort it can become my full time job. So I am making a public commitment today that I will continue to believe in this blog and that I will put in the work to make this the blog that Florida deserves.
I will write excellent articles, share the best Florida travel hacks and deals that I can find, and will create regular, consistent content.
Upon posting this article, I will have completed 97 articles in 5 years (plus a couple weeks). I commit to you that over the course of year 6, I will at a minimum double the amount of articles found here on the Florida Explorer and I will begin the hard, agonizing work of building the Florida travel blog that you deserve.
